All 4 Long Slim Tin Cases

Every long slim tin case in the library — 4 production runs in total, 24 to a page, each one carrying the mould it was made from. Clear length is what separates them, so the use case on each card is a faster way in than scrolling by capacity.

A Strip, Not a Panel

Turning Any Case Above Into Custom Long Slim Tins

As long slim tin manufacturers, a slim build is specified as a strip rather than as a panel — the print band, the gauge and the closure all change once a body gets narrow. Four things get settled before one goes back on the line.

01

Artwork set to the real band height

A narrow body leaves very little vertical room, and a standard layout loses its hierarchy when it is scaled down. On these long slim tin moulds the type sizes are set for the actual band and the logo goes where the hand grips least — proofed on the substrate, not on paper.

02

A gauge matched to the length

A long thin body flexes where a compact one does not. The tinplate gauge is specified against the longest side and the closure runs the full length, which together are what stop a long slim tin with lid bowing when it is picked up by one end.

03

An interior that takes the full length

The whole point of the shape is clear length — a full pencil, a whole cigar, a row of sachets. A narrow metal tin is re-run with the internal clearance drawn to that item, which is why the mould exists rather than a shorter body being stretched.

04

A closure that runs the length

A long slim tin container seals along two long edges, so a slide lid or a full-length hinge is specified for the whole run rather than for a corner. tall seamless aluminium screw lid tins are the alternative when the format needs a screw thread instead.

Narrow-Gauge by Construction

How These Long Slim Tin Cases Are Built

A long slim tin container is what you reach for when the product itself is long — a pencil, a tea bag string, a brush. The shape is the specification. Three things decide whether one works, and on every case above all three were fixed before printing started.

The print band is narrow, so it has to be plannedA tall narrow face gives you a short, high panel rather than a wide one. Type is laid out for that band and proofed on the real substrate within 48 hours, because a design drawn for a square face does not survive being squeezed onto a narrow metal tin.
Long walls need the gauge to carry themA long thin body bows where a compact one does not. The tinplate gauge is matched to the longest side, which is what stops a long slim tin box flexing when it is picked up by one end.
The closure runs the length of the boxA slide lid or a hinged lid along the long edge spreads the load instead of concentrating it on a small flap — and it is the closure that fails first on a badly specified long body.

What happens after the contents are gone

  • Tinplate is endlessly recyclable with no loss of quality — a steel long slim tin is a genuinely recyclable container, not a greenwashed claim.
  • Roughly nine in ten tins get kept and reused, and a pencil-box shape is one of the most likely to stay in a bag or on a desk for years.
  • That second life is worth designing for. A closure that survives being carried keeps your print in circulation rather than in a bin.

Where Long Slim Tin Packaging Is Used

Pens & Pencils

The classic use — a pencil tin box or pen case long enough for the item itself, usually with a slide or hinged lid along the long edge.

Tea Bags & Sachets

Bagged tea, sachet and single-serve ranges in a long slim tea tin, where the narrow footprint suits a packet rather than loose leaf.

Tools & Brushes

Brushes, craft tools and measuring sets in a long slim tin container — anything whose length rules out every other shape.

Promotional & Gift

Narrow gift sets and event giveaways in a long slim gift tin, where the unusual proportion is the point rather than a compromise.

Design Reference

Designing a Long Slim Tin Box With a Narrow Print Band

A slim body leaves very little vertical room, so the artwork has to work as a strip rather than as a panel.

A strip layout, not a scaled panel

A long slim tin container print band is narrow enough that a standard layout loses its hierarchy. Type sizes are set for the real band height, and the logo goes where the hand grips the tin least.

Length becomes the design feature

A narrow metal tin is bought for its proportions, so the artwork usually leans into the length — a repeating pattern, a horizontal rule, or a name set along the full face. Nothing that matters goes near the ends, where the print curves away.

Buying Guide

How to Choose a Long Slim Tin From the Cases Above

Four decisions turn one of the cases on this page into your order. On a slim body, the first one is the clear length rather than the capacity.

1
Measure the longest item you have to fit

A long slim tin box is bought for its clear length. Give us the longest item and the internal dimension is drawn to it with clearance, not to a stock capacity that leaves the last 10 mm unusable.

2
Accept that the print band is narrow

A long slim tin container works when the layout leans into the length — a repeating pattern, a horizontal rule, a name set along the full face. Nothing important goes near the ends, where the print curves away.

3
Say whether it is carried or shelved

A carried format needs a curled edge and a closure that survives a bag; a shelved one needs a stable footprint and a taller body. tall metal tins with lids are usually the second, and they are gauged for stacking rather than for handling.

4
Decide if it needs a tray or a slide

A slim drawer box format — a sleeve with a sliding inner — is the usual choice for a set, and it changes the tooling. A plain narrow metal tin is cheaper; saying which one you want before sampling avoids a second round.

Not sure which of these applies to you?Send us the longest item, the layout you have in mind and whether it gets carried or shelved. We will come back with a recommended body, gauge and closure — no cost, no obligation.

FAQs

Long Slim Tin FAQs

The questions that come up most often when buyers spec a long slim tin.

What is your MOQ and long slim tins wholesale price for custom long slim tins wholesale?
Standard long slim tin MOQ is 1,000 pcs per design — uniform across every case in this library. Unit price runs $0.40 – $1.30 for the middle 50% of cases, with a median of $0.63 – 0.95. The gauge moves the price more than the artwork does.
Do you supply empty long slim tins, or only filled ones?
Empty — we are a long slim tin manufacturer and a long slim tin supplier, not a packer. Bodies and closures ship unfilled and unlabelled, so filling and packing stay on your own line.
Can you handle long slim tins bulk orders across several lengths at once?
Yes. wholesale long slim tins programmes are quoted per mould, so a compact long slim tin for a short set and large long slim tins for a full-length format can sit in one purchase order with separate minimums.
Will a long slim tin box bend or bow in transit?
Not if the gauge is specified for the length. A long thin body flexes where a compact one does not, so the tinplate gauge is matched to the longest side and the closure runs the length of the box — that combination is what stops a long slim tin container bowing when it is picked up by one end.
Do you make tall metal tins with lids or a slim drawer box format?
Both. tall metal tins with lids are a single deep-drawn body with a lift-off lid; tall seamless aluminium screw lid tins are the seamless alternative where the format needs a thread. A slim drawer box is a sleeve with a sliding inner and is quoted as two parts rather than one.
Can I order custom long slim tins with my own artwork?
Yes — that is the whole point of reusing a mould. Send artwork or a sketch and we proof it on the real substrate within 48 hours, printing up to 8 colours in CMYK or spot. Type is set to the real band height rather than scaled down from a panel.
What shapes and sizes can you make?
Everything in the register above, plus bespoke geometry. The library runs from a compact long slim tin for a short set up to a large long slim tin for a full-length format, with round and rectangular cross-sections on most lengths.
What is the wholesale price of a long slim tin?
It follows the mould and the gauge, not the artwork: $0.40 – $1.30 per unit for the middle 50% of cases at 1,000 pcs, before packing and freight. A metal long slim tin at a heavier gauge sits at the top of that band.
Do you print inside the lid?
Yes. Body and lid are quoted as separate printing passes, so a lid-only print is the cheapest way to add a second surface — common on a long slim tin gift set, where the inside of the lid carries the contents list.
What are your production lead times after sample approval?
A pre-production sample takes 7 days. Printing then ships in 15–20 days on an existing mould, 20–25 days extra if a new die has to be cut. For a seasonal range we quote against your shelf date rather than against a nominal lead time.
Can you support private label long slim tins and OEM programmes?
Yes. As an OEM long slim tin manufacturer we run private label long slim tins end to end — tooling, print, closure, packing and export documents on one line, with your brand on the tin and nothing of ours.
Can you ship to the UK, US, Australia and Canada?
Yes, FOB Ningbo / Shanghai / Shenzhen. Tell us the destination market and we match the relevant food-contact requirements — a long slim tin container declared for the EU and one declared for the US are not the same filing.
Can you make a custom long tin to a specific clear length?
Yes. On a slim body the clear length is the number that matters rather than the capacity, because the item inside is what sets it. Send the longest item and the custom long tin is drawn around that, with the depth added afterwards.
Do you supply a long tin box with a sliding lid?
Yes. A sliding lid suits a slim body because it does not need the swing space of a hinge, and a bright aluminum base is the usual finish on a slim profile because it reads as a pen or a cigar case. The long tin box is quoted with the lid as a separate pass, so the inside of the slide can carry a second printed surface.
