Buying from the case library — common questions
How many tin can packaging cases are in this gallery?
The gallery indexes 2839 cases, of which 2831 include product photography, spanning 2185 existing mould refs across 12 product uses and 5 tin shape families. The library is a production archive, not a curated selection — some cases carry an original project title and the rest are indexed by their mould specification.
Which tin shapes are available?
Square-form bodies lead the library, followed by round tins and special shapes — oval, hexagonal, heart and irregular bodies. Long slim bodies (pen-box class) are a smaller, much less contested range. Click any card in the shape section above to browse by live counts.
What is the smallest and largest tin in the library?
Capacity runs from small lip-balm and mint tins up to 5L-plus bulk biscuit and storage tins — all as real cases. Filter by band in the capacity section above, or locate a size by mould ref in the size index.
What surface finishes can be printed?
Tin can printing runs in house, on the body and on the lid, and is quoted as separate passes. A run is either a four-colour CMYK offset print, a single spot colour, or spot colour laid over CMYK. Coatings range from white base coat to matte, frosted, gloss and reverse clear varnish; structural finishing covers embossing, window cut-outs, minimal line art and retro illustration.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Standard MOQ is 1,000 pcs per design — uniform across every case in the library. Unit price runs $0.40 – $1.35 for the middle 50% of cases; small tins and high-volume print runs sit at the bottom of that band.
Can I start from an existing case instead of a new mould?
Yes — that is the point of this page. Every case links to the mould it was produced from. If the dimensions and lid structure fit your product, we print your artwork on the same tooling: no mould fee, no 20–25 day tooling cycle, and 15–20 days after artwork approval.
How long does a custom tin order take?
Reusing an existing mould: 15–20 days after artwork approval, with a 7-day pre-production sample first. Opening a new mould: add 20–25 days for tooling. A brand-new shape is therefore 6–8 weeks end to end.
Are these cases food-grade and compliant?
Yes. All bodies are food-grade tinplate with a food-contact-safe interior coating where required, and that interior spec is what turns a plain body into a food tin: the lacquer goes on before the print, so ink never meets the contents. We produce tin cans for food packaging on the same gauges as our gift and promotional bodies — food packaging cans, a canned food tin, a biscuit tin and a tea canister are all the same tooling with a different lining. That covers tin packaging for food of every kind: a canister packaging food programme, or tin cans for food storage in bulk. Tell us your market (EU, US, UK) and we match the relevant food-contact and packaging compliance requirements.
Do you supply a custom tin box as well as a tin can?
Both names describe the same product, and the library above is the evidence: the body is drawn from a mould already on file, printed in house and shipped unfilled. We are a tin box manufacturer and a tin box supplier in exactly that sense — a custom tin box and a custom tin can come off the same line. If your brief says custom tin boxes wholesale rather than tin cans, the quote is identical; the vocabulary differs by market, not by process.
What is a tin box with lid, and which lid types do you make?
A tin box with lid is the generic retail format: a drawn body plus a separate closure. In this library the closure is one of four — a plain lift-off lid, a compression-seated lid for a food seal, a hinged lid, or a sliding lid on slim bodies. A metal tin box with lid is the same construction in tinplate rather than aluminium, and the lid is quoted as its own printing pass, which is what makes a lid-only print the cheapest way to add a second surface.
