Curved, Rolled and Nested
As round tin manufacturers, the questions we get about a round body are almost always about the print and the rim rather than the shape. Four things are decided before a cylinder goes back on the line.
A cylinder has no flat panel, so artwork is set against the real circumference of the existing round tin moulds rather than against a nominal size. The seam is positioned before the layout starts, which is what keeps the join off the logo.
Rolling the body makes it rigid at the rim and safe to handle without a hemmed edge. That is a property of the shape, not an add-on, and it is why a round tin is the usual answer for anything carried or handled daily.
Round bodies either nest inside each other or stack with a rim, and the choice changes how many fit in a carton. We set it against your freight route — a round storage tin going by sea is packed differently from one going on a shelf.
Lift-off, hinged, slide and screw closures all run on round tooling, and the closure travels with the mould. A round tin with lid in a lift-off format is the cheapest of them, because the lid is the same blank as the body end.
Curved by Construction
A round tin box is the most widely tooled shape in the register, and the cheapest to re-run — but a curved body takes print differently from a flat panel. Three things decide how a round body behaves, and on every case above all three were fixed before printing started.
Round bodies dominate tea and coffee because the curl seal is at its most reliable on a circle — the usual home for a round tea tin or a coffee canister.
Wax vessels are almost all round: a round candle tin pours evenly, burns evenly and takes a lift-off lid without a corner to warp.
Pocket formats where a round mint tin with a hinged or slide lid survives being carried in a bag or a pocket.
Seasonal round gift tin builds where a full-wrap print carries the occasion and the tin is part of the present rather than just a container.

Design Reference
A round body has no corners to hide behind, so the artwork has to close cleanly around the whole circumference.
A round tin can is printed as one continuous band, which means the join has to land somewhere the eye will not catch it. We set the repeat against the real circumference of the mould rather than against a nominal size.
Type and logos distort when they wrap around a round metal container, so the proof is run on the formed body. Straight-line artwork that looks correct flat can bow by several millimetres once it is on the tin.
Buying Guide
Four decisions turn one of the cases on this page into your order. On a cylinder, three of them are about dimensions and one is about the print.
Round bodies are tooled by diameter, and capacity follows from the height. Quote the diameter you can live with and we find the height that hits your fill volume, rather than the other way round.
If the capacity is close but not right, depth is the cheaper dimension to move. A new body height on an existing round metal container needs far less tooling than a new diameter, and it usually keeps the lid blank unchanged.
Nested bodies ship more per carton and store flatter, but they cannot be stacked when full. Saying which matters up front changes the wall gauge as well as the pack, and it is the decision most often left too late.
On a round tin box the artwork closes on itself somewhere. Naming that point — under a handle, behind a label, at the back of the shelf facing — is the single thing that makes a full-wrap print look intentional rather than joined.
